Privacy policy

HearthBee helps households keep track of shopping, money, helpers, chores, meals, records and more. This policy explains what information the HearthBee apps and website collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. HearthBee is provided by ThemeNcode LLC (“we”, “us”).

The short version: we collect only what the app needs to work, we never sell your data or show ads, there are no third-party trackers, and you can delete everything at any time.

Information we collect

Information you give us

  • Sign-in details: your mobile number or email address, or the account identifier, name and email that Google or Apple share when you choose to sign in with them.
  • Profile: your name, country and area, which you can change at any time.
  • Household content: what you add to the app, such as shopping lists and orders, prices, bills, expenses, income, budgets, funds, accounts, loans, shared expenses, helpers and their attendance and pay, chores, meal plans and recipes, home stock, records, contacts, medicines and reminders, notices and messages to shops.
  • Photos you attach to records, such as a warranty card or a document. These are stored privately for your household.
  • Messages you send us when you contact support.

Information collected automatically

  • Session details: when you sign in, we keep a sign-in session with the device type reported by your browser or app, so you stay signed in and can sign out.
  • Network address: your IP address is used briefly to limit abuse, such as too many sign-in codes, and is not stored with your account.
  • Server logs: our hosting provider keeps short-lived technical logs (time, address, errors) to keep the service running and secure.

What stays on your device

  • Receipt scanning: receipt text is read on your phone. The photo of the receipt is not uploaded; only the items you choose to save are.
  • Reminders for bills, chores and medicines are scheduled on your phone.

We do not collect your location, contacts, call logs or browsing activity, and we do not use advertising identifiers.

How we use information

  • To provide the app: sign you in, save and sync your household’s information across the devices of the people in it, and send the reminders you set.
  • To send sign-in and account deletion codes by SMS or email.
  • To keep HearthBee secure and prevent abuse.
  • To answer your questions and fix problems you report.
  • To improve the shared item catalog. Items you choose to share publicly are reviewed and may be shown to others without your name.

We do not sell your information, use it for advertising, or build profiles about you.

Who can see your information

  • People in your household see the household’s shared information, such as the shopping list, bills and chores.
  • Only you see items you mark as “Only me”, such as private income, loans, accounts and funds.
  • Shops and building groups you choose to connect with see what you send them, such as your list, your household name and the flat or house number you enter.
  • Service providers who process data for us to run the service, under contract and only for that purpose:
    • Cloudflare, for hosting, database and file storage.
    • An SMS provider, to deliver sign-in codes to your phone.
    • Resend, to deliver sign-in codes by email.
    • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
  • Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety of people or the service.

Keeping and deleting your information

We keep your information while your account exists. You can delete individual items in the app at any time.

To delete your account, open the app and go to More, then Delete account, or use the account deletion page on this website. When you delete your account:

  • Your account, sign-in methods and sessions are deleted right away.
  • Households where you were the only member are deleted with all their information and photos.
  • In households you share with others, the information stays for the other members. Ownership passes to another member.
  • Backups held by our hosting provider are overwritten within 30 days.

Security

Information is encrypted in transit. Sign-in codes are stored only as one-way hashes, and photos are served only through short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and limit who can access it.

Children

HearthBee is meant for adults managing a household. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Where information is processed

Our providers run data centers in several countries. By using HearthBee, your information may be processed outside your country, with the protections described in this policy.

Your choices and rights

You can see, change and delete your information in the app. You can also ask us for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing privacy@hearthbee.com. Depending on where you live, you may have further rights under local law, and we will honor them.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we will tell you in the app or on this page before they take effect. The date at the top shows when this policy last changed.
